Preparing Images for Competitions

Projected Images

Projected images should be a maximum of 1920px wide and 1200px high to ensure they fit the club's projector screen.

  • Images can be any size and aspect ratio as long as they conform to the maximum width and height specification;
  • It is recommended that dots per inch (dpi) or pixels per inch (ppi) be set at 72.
  • Entries should be submitted in jpeg/jpg format.
  • The deadline for submissions will be announced in an email and put on the website.
  • Please name your files in this format: n title.jpg
    • n is a single digit number and you put 1, 2, 3… to show your order of preference, and there is a space between the number and the title.
      We usually allow 3 entries per person, but we will inform you if any ever allows a different number. Sometimes, we have too many entries in which case we will enter your images in order of preference which we may limit to, say, 2 per person.
    • title can be multiple words, no need for underscore to separate them.
    • no space between the end of the title and .jpg
    • example 1 lovely landscape.jpg
  • It is good practice to give images a meaningful or intriguing title.
  • Re-sized images should be uploaded to your Dropbox folder. For details on how to, click here.

Prints

Prints should be not less than size A4 and not larger than A3. They should be mounted on mount board size 40cm by 50cm.

  • It is usual to use white, cream or black mount board.
  • Unless advised otherwise, prints should be brought to the meeting on the night of the competition.
  • The photographer's name and title of the image should be written on the back.
